Here I am.

Hello.

I’ve kept a journal and a blog for the better part of my life, but in the last few years of my life as a teacher, I’d stopped blogging. I’m ready to make some changes in my teaching life, and I’ve decided that returning to blogging will help me organize myself and will give me an opportunity to work out what is and isn’t helpful, effective, or enjoyable.

Why do this in public?

  • Because having an audience brings a new sense of perspective and can help me feel more accountable.
  • Because maybe someone out there could benefit from my experiences.

Ultimately, I’d like to compile a record of my intellectual life as a teacher, as I develop and grow, considering always how I can keep improving.

What do I expect these blog posts will look like?

  • Routines and procedures I’m trying or trying to perfect
  • Lesson ideas and resources that inspire them
  • Reflections on my practice as a teacher in our changing society
  • Reviews of books, films, etc. that relate to my teaching life
  • A genuine look at the mental health aspects of teaching

I’m not really sure where this journey will lead, but isn’t that one of the most exciting parts of being a teacher?
